The Origin of Maid-Rite
The origin of the Maid-Rite sandwich has sparked some debate. Residents of Newton, IA claim it started there, but according to Wikipedia, a butcher from Muscatine, IA created the famous Iowa Maid-Rite Sandwich, also known as a “loose meat sandwich.” Instead of forming the meat into a patty, it resembles a sloppy joe.
